From this window onto the pale blue sea … I caught a glimpse straight onto history … What a legacy … The Nile, The Pyramids and miles of golden sand … Tremendous beauty on this land … Then my vision started to fade … As I recalled scenes of recent hate … One against the other … So much blood has seeped into the ground … It’s gold sand now a red hate mound … So I closed up the curtains and crawled back to bed … Hoping this part of the story can go unsaid … With dreams of much better things ahead – Cairo, Egypt 4/1/2014 Photo & Text by @laura_eltantawy / VII Photo Mentor @viiphoto @everydayafrica #cairo #egypt #middleeast #northafrica #pyramids #history #instagood #instamood #abstract #artistic #betterthingsahead

Laura – you amaze me. Who in the world but you could have taken the most iconic, often stereotypical, symbol of Egypt in the world and so strongly linked your nation’s past to current events? I am reminded of the dichotomy of greatness and beauty coupled with blood-soaked sand has repeated itself through the ages.
oh,LAURA…you are giving “birth” too …this is a spiritual one but it’s still a birth!!!
