Hello everyone, my name is Santi Carneri (@santicarneri) and I’ll be taking over @burndiary for next 10 days. Many thanks to @diegorlando, @davidalanharvey and @burndiary for this exciting opportunity! Day 1: I’m in Asuncion , capital of Paraguay , one of the most unknown and poor countries of America, wedged between Bolivia , Argentina and Brazil. A mainly rural country , dedicated to the production of cattle and soybeans , a country that suffered a military dictatorship from 1954-1989.His peasants are protesting every week in Asuncion asking distribution of land and other basic rights such as access to clean water, education or public health. On this wall reads ” Raped Paraguay ” but actually says ” Against state violence “, and it’s signed by Paraguay Pyahura (A New Paraguay, in guarani language), a political party formed by poor farmers across the country. The wall is in downtown Asuncion, scene of most of my pictures, city where I arrived from Spain 3 years ago to work as a correspondent for an international news agency. I hope I can show you a bit of the reality of this wonderful country.
