Howdy Folks, this is @zambereileen, posting from the mountains of Southern Oregon. Part of our mission as parents is to instill certain values in our children. I’ve spoken previously of nurturing their love for the land and simultaneously teaching stewardship and responsibility. In conjunction with these lessons, we also try and teach our children the value of hard work. We do this by assigning daily chores and requiring their participation in projects and upkeep of our home and property. We hope this will prepare them for life away from home someday and that they will be able to face any task with the confidence of an firmly established work ethic. This is a picture of my son, Cedar, working on preparing the winter’s store of wood. Even though he is only 16 years old, he has already experienced the sweet taste of accomplishment and pride in a job well done.
