Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I remember my first time in New York. It was some months after the World Trade Center attack. You could see the military police everywhere. At that moment I was staying in Greenpoint with my friend Danny who is half Swedish, half Puerto Rican. I remember when my friend told me there was a Polish community in there, and it was amazing for me because I grew up in an island, in the Caribbean, and the contact with people from other countries is not too much, except for the Dominican community who have emigrated to Puerto Rico since the 80’s. But, at the same time, you meet and have foreign friends like Danny and Camille who is the woman in this pic. I meet Camille a long time ago in France and then we meet again in Puerto Rico. She loved the island and stayed for a long time. She particularly likes Puerto Rican girls … who don’t? We were at the backyard of the bar while she smoked a cigarette. It was freezing.I am taking pictures about the people that are around me in N.Y. and Puerto Rico. This is @alvarosski posting on @burndiary
