La Marina Isabela, Puerto Rico. La Marina is a poor community on the west cost. They have been my friends, and family, since 2011, when I was shooting my second short film called “Mi santa Mirada”, and some of them were natural actors. Since a year ago, I have been working taking pictures in La Marina and another community on the west cost because when I was working on the design of my first feature film (shooting right now) I felt this community had a lot of stories, but my film just told one. Right now I am working on a book about this community on the west cost in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti, which I will be visiting soon. The narrative is about fishing communities in the Caribbean. I hope to publish an essay on this topic soon.
