The boys and I had a wonderful but exhausting day out today. Bunked off school to go to the Devon County Show. It’s only once a year and important for their ‘outdoor’ education… (I tell the head teacher). I could show you a million pictures of the boys stroking and kissing prize-winning bathed and coiffed cows, goats, and even alpacas, but the loveliest moment of the day was when I went to turn River’s light out tonight and tuck him in. This is what I found. River adores cuddly toys. He always sleeps with his tiger, Bonnie, as his pillow, and gives another a turn each night to cuddle up with him. But now and again he tells me in the morning that he felt sorry for all the ones that weren’t having a turn. And so had let them all in.
