That’s my mother Maryanna as a teacher in a one room schoolhouse in Iowa farm country in 1940. She taught all subjects in grades 1-12. Here with 6 students of various ages. I had not seen this newspaper clip until two weeks ago sent now by my cousin Marilyn. I’m imagining she was a pretty good teacher to these kids. All I know is that she was my best teacher in life and her philosophy for living carries on. My mother was a great supporter of my work from the beginning and literally built my very best darkroom when I was about 14. Maryanna Babcock Harvey at 93 even loved Instagram right up to her last days and used it as a way to track her loving family. Her memory only brings smiles to us all.
